Registration
The Course Schedule provides detailed information on registration procedures, access times, and course offerings. The Course Schedule becomes available at the registrar's office Web site approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of registration each semester. For detailed information, see the fall, spring, or summer Course Schedule online. If you still have questions after reading the Course Schedule, call the registration helpline at (512) 475-7656.
Students may register for classes only during specific access periods detailed in the Course Schedule. You may view your access times on your on-line RIS (Registration Information Sheet): http://utdirect.utexas.edu/registrar/ris.WBX.
Your registration is not complete unless you pay your tuition and fees by the payment deadline. You may choose to pay in full, or you may use the installment plan (except for summer session). See the Course Schedule for payment procedure details or go to Student Accounts Receivable, http://www.utexas.edu/business/accounting/sar/.
Reconfirming Classes:
Use UT Direct to reconfirm your classes after registration. Errors sometimes occur, and occasionally changes are made to courses after registration occurs. You do not want to realize too late that you are not properly enrolled or that a class has been cancelled or changed.
Seeing the Undergraduate Advisor:
Although not strictly required, continuing majors should check with the undergraduate advisor periodically to share information on courses, discuss difficulties, obtain approvals, and to keep track of career, internship, study abroad, and honors possibilities.
The advisor will be available during periods of continuing, new, and late registration, as well as during the semester. Office hours may vary depending on time of year and typically occur between 9:00 and 4:00, excepting the lunch hour from 12:00 to 1:00. To minimize problems, please check in advance (232-6344) to determine the advisor’s availablility. Please try to obtain advising before the peak periods of registration occur. Advance advising is always welcome! You may run your own degree audit online through IDA (Interactive Degree Audit): http://www.utexas.edu/student/registrar/ida/.
Applying to Graduate:
You must apply to graduate during the semester in which you hope to graduate. You may apply to graduate online at the College Liberal Arts website: https://www.utexas.edu/cola/student-affairs/Graduation/Application.php or in person in the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office in Gebauer 2.200. Please see an advisor before registering for your final semester at UT. Always double check your updated advising audit before adds/drops are over during this final semester.
When Problems Arise:
If you have a problem with your program, please see the undergraduate advisor.
