Urban Geography
This track offers in-depth understanding of urban socio-spatial conditions and the forces shaping urban environments. Students explore urban growth and decline in developed countries and in the global south with attention to urban landscapes, urban cultures, political dynamics of urban communities, urban poverty, ethnic segregation, migration, transportation, housing, and the fiscal dilemmas faced by cities. This track prepares students for careers with state and metropolitan governments in public policy, city planning, regional development, and transportation planning, as well as diverse positions in the non-profit and private sectors.

GRG 356T: Society of Modern Mexico
GRG 356T: Urban Publics
Students may use the honors thesis sequence (GRG 679HA/HB) to meet one of the track requirements, again with an appropriate topic.
Note: In addition to the above, all geography majors must also complete the core requirements in Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Techniques.
