The Materiality of the Commons

April 17-18, 2020
Glickman Conference Center in the Patton (RLP) Building, and
Blanton Museum of Art, University of Texas at Austin.

“The Materiality of the Commons” conference brings together scholars and activists who have been interested in exploring the history of the commons for contemporary political thought and activism. We have invited presenters working in political, legal, labor, post-colonial, queer, and environmental humanities, as well as practitioners in the arts, to share their ideas on collectives and commons.

Presented by the Institute for Historical Studies. Generously co-sponsored by the Department of History, Department of English, Center for European Studies, Department of Asian Studies, Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies, Latino Studies, Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, and more to be announced. Program forthcoming. Free and open to the public.

Registration is now open.
