Directions to Garrison Hall (GAR) for Visitors

A short distance from many Capital Metro bus routes including the UT Shuttle Service, use the Capital Metro Trip Planner to check specific routes and times. Accessible via a number of bike routes (see UT's Maps for Bicyclists and City of Austin's routes to campus), Garrison has bike racks on the west and southeast sides of the building-- more information about cyling on campus here. If walking to UT campus, Garrison is located in the Main Mall, about 50 yards southeast of the Tower. The nearest paid UT parking garages are CCG, SAG, and BRG, while metered street parking is very limited around main campus.

Accessibilty: There are two accessible ramps along the south side of Garrison on Inner Campus Drive. The ramp immediately south of the building leads directly to the basement level. The ramp southwest of the building, adjacent to the Main Mall, leads to Garrison's first level on the west (Tower-facing) side, also known as the celebrated entrance. Both the south and west entrances have power-assisted accessible doors. Elevator access is available on each level of the building. Contact the UT Disability & Access Office's website for maps, parking information, and other resources, and the UT Division of Campus and Community Engagement's website for additional campus accessibility resources.

UT Land Acknowledgement

(I) We would like to acknowledge that we are meeting on the Indigenous lands of Turtle Island, the ancestral name for what now is called North America. Moreover, (I) We would like to acknowledge the Alabama-Coushatta, Caddo, Carrizo/Comecrudo, Coahuiltecan, Comanche, Kickapoo, Lipan Apache, Tonkawa and Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, and all the American Indian and Indigenous Peoples and communities who have been or have become a part of these lands and territories in Texas. We are grateful to be able to study and learn on this piece of Turtle Island. Since some of our classes and programs are online, you may be contributing from other tribal lands. Here is a map that may help you in identifying the indigenous peoples of the land on which you study: https://native-land.ca/.
