Tanya Clement, Associate Director for Digital Humanities

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of English. I have a PhD in English Literature and Language and an MFA in fiction.

My primary areas of research are textual studies, sound studies, and infrastructure studies as these concerns impact academic research, research libraries, and the creation of research tools and resources in Digital Humanities (DH). I lead High Performance Sound Technologies for Access and Scholarship (HiPSTAS) projects for the development and interrogation of socio-technical infrastructures to increase access and scholarship with audiovisual cultural heritage collections.

Zoe Bursztajn-Illingworth, Postdoctoral Fellow

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities at the University of Texas at Austin. I hold an MA and a PhD in English literature from UT, having defended my dissertation in July 2022.

My digital humanities research involves creating collaborative projects at the intersection of literature, film, and new media such as The Relineator, “The Virtual Poem Embodied on Screen” and editing the SpokenWeb Digital Anthology. My book project, Shooting Script: Poetry, Film, and Form, argues that contemporary narrative film and contemporary poetry are in fact sister arts, and that by examining their joint theoretical investments, expressed through unique forms, we gain a new sense of how these media constitute an emergent “platformalism” in the digital age.
