Faculty Fellows Seminar | Distinguished Visiting Lecture Series

The Humanities Institute sponsors a series of free public lectures delivered by distinguished visitors to the University. The lectures are centered on an annually selected theme or issue of broad intellectual and social importance — the same theme chosen for the Institute's Faculty Fellows Seminar. Previous visitors have included well-known humanities scholars as well as civic leaders. The 2020-2022 lecture series theme, "The Humanities in the Environment/The Environment in the Humanities provides an opportunity to expand upon the theme of the current Faculty Fellows Seminar.

Series lectures are directed toward a broad audience, especially for the purpose of expanding dialogue between university scholars of every discipline and community members of every background. Lecture audiences regularly include participants in other Humanities Institute programs and members of the general public, as well as students, faculty, and staff from UT and other area schools.

Wednesday, September 29, 2021 (Virtual) – Nick Estes,  PhD, author, and one of the founders of The Red Nation. "State Repression of Indigenous Movements: From the Red Power Movement to the Pipeline Protests of Dakota Access and Line 3"
