Fall 2024 Faculty Application - Faculty-Student Research Partnership Program 

If you’re a faculty member seeking student assistance for a humanities project, consider participating in the Faculty-Student Research Partnership Program (FSRP) at the Humanities Institute within the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin. Partner with a student to advance your work and enhance their research skills. We support collaborations across all humanities disciplines. Below, you'll be asked for a 1-paragraph project description and to list the specific research tasks you'd be assigning to a student or students during the semester.

If you’re considering participating, here’s a summary of the key dates and details:

Faculty/Primary Researcher Application Deadline:

April 19: Applications from any unit on campus are due. If your PRIMARY appointment is not in COLA, you MUST employ COLA students if selected for the FSRP.

Student Application Period

May 3: Student applications open.
May 15: Student applications are due. Note: Student researchers must be affiliated with COLA for faculty/primary researchers outside COLA.

Selection Process:

May 15: Faculty will receive student applications.

May 30: Faculty decisions on student applications are due.

June 5: Selected students will be notified.

Funding Details:
Undergraduate students: Up to two researchers can be funded, receiving a $750 scholarship each at the end of the fall semester.
Graduate students: Funding is available for one researcher, receiving a $1,500 scholarship at the end of the fall semester.

Project Commitment:

Research skill development and project expectations should average no more than 4 hours per week.

A brief faculty report on the research goals and skills developed is required.
If you decide to participate, we will advertise your project description on our website and in an open call to students. Students will be funded based on student status (grad or undergrad). Remember, it’s important to clearly define the different activities for each undergraduate student researcher if you’re applying for funding for two.
