HI | Funding Strategy Interviews

The Humanities Institute conducted funding strategy interviews with a number of our Liberal Arts faculty who were awarded grants that intersect with the humanities. We asked them a series of questions meant to help fellow humanist scholars as they search for and apply to grants and fellowships. Interview questions asked included:

  1. How did you locate and identify funding opportunities for your work?
  2. What do you wish you had known before you had received the award?
  3. What were some unexpected hurdles and how did you overcome them?
  4. What was your approach to project or team management?
  5. How was writing a grant proposal different from an article/book/monograph?
  6. What input did you receive from colleagues or program officers?
  7. What advice would you give someone who is having trouble putting together a grant application?

We are deeply grateful to our faculty for taking the time to participate in these interviews.
