Humanities Research Awards

The Humanities Research Awards (HRA) are designed for UT faculty and graduate students and are working on humanities-focused projects. Grants provide funding and support to enhance the likelihood of successful project outcomes, such as publications, dissemination, and engagement. 2026-27 HRA

Kamran Asdar Ali, is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology. His project is entitled "Traditional Futures: The Life and Work of Kamil Khan Mumtaz (A Documentary Film Project)."

Emily Drumsta, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies. Her project is entitled "How Romantic: Poetry, Prosody, and Politics in Modern Arabic Poetry."

Megan Poole, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rhetoric & Writing. Her project is entitled "Ground Truth Initiative: Environmental Memories on the Banks of Boggy Creek."

Pablo E. Requena, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. His project is entitled "Narrative Discourse and Meaning Construction in Child Language: A Public Humanities and Experimental Approach."

James Slotta, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology. His project is entitled "The Science in Anti-Vaccine Sentiment."

Maria Sidorkina, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies. Her project is entitled "Aesopian Speech Revisited: The Pleasures and Dangers of Political Avoidance in Contemporary Russia."
