Economic Humanities

Dr. Brian Hurley, Dr. Jason Cons, Dr. Lalitha Gopalan, and Dr. Youjeong Oh (pictured below) were awarded a Research Working Group (RWG) to help research "Economic Humanities." This cross-disciplinary RWG is based in the Departments of Asian Studies, Anthropology, and Radio, Television and Film.

The Economic Humanities Research Working Group sets out to develop new paradigms for linking economic questions to the methods and materials of the humanities and the humanistic social sciences. The group brings together scholars interested in understanding the economic and its broad social, cultural, and political implications, with a particular focus on Asian Studies. To support this goal, the working group organizes workshops, talks, and collaborative events that foster dialogue between Asia-focused scholars and leading researchers in the field of economic humanities beyond Asian Studies. Through these exchanges, the group seeks to foster interdisciplinary conversations that bridge Asian Studies and the economic humanities.
