Reproductive Justice Across the Arts & Humanities

Dr. Nessette Falu, Dr. Rosemary Candelario, Dr. Alison Kafer, and Dr. Lina-Maria Murillo (pictured below) were awarded a Research Working Group (RWG) to help research reproductive justice. This cross-disciplinary RWG is based in the Departments of African and African Diaspora Studies, Theatre and Dance, and Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies.

This RWG investigates reproductive health, rights, and justice and raises questions central to humanistic inquiry rarely named as such but desperately needed in this globalizing world. The collective will become an important space for scholars on campus and beyond to exchange ideas about this ever-expanding field. The RWG's intentions are to think through the practices that can sustainably combine a commitment to reproductive justice for all with knowledge formation in the arts and humanities. The group will workshop its research to rethink reproductive justice frameworks, organize a public lecture, and strategize toward a student-led art exhibition about reproductive justice.
