Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Are you interested in gaining research experience at UT Austin? Here are some of the best ways to get involved:
- ILSJ Student Fellowship
Connect with faculty across campus and in the community on research projects that align with your interests and goals. Past projects have explored topics in law, social justice, and policy. While we don’t have openings at the moment, join our listserv to be the first to hear about new opportunities! - Bridging Disciplines Program (BDP)
The BDP allows students to develop a secondary area of specialization that complements their major. To earn a certificate, students complete 19 credit hours of interdisciplinary coursework combined with hands-on research, internships, or creative experiences. With 17 different concentrations, there’s something for everyone! More information can be found here. - Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP)
URAP provides students with structured research training in Liberal Arts. You’ll work closely with faculty mentors, gaining hands-on experience that prepares you for independent research before graduation. More information can be found here. - Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program
This competitive summer program selects 12 students from across the U.S. for an immersive, 8-week research experience focused on race, ethnicity, and the criminal justice system. Participants attend seminars and conduct research with real-world policy applications. More information can be found here.
