Academic Enrichment
We know it takes more than academics to make the most of students’ time at the university and to excel after leaving the Forty Acres. Employers and postgraduate programs look for well-rounded students who achieve outside the classroom as well. For that reason, LAH Scholars who wish to graduate with either the scholars or distinguished scholars designations are asked to complete a minimum of two academic enrichment experiences from the following categories: community service, internships, leadership, research, and study abroad. Here are the hours required and selected resources to get you started.
- Community service: 200 hours total
- SEAL: Students Expanding Austin Literacy – this was an Envision Austin winner!
- Volunteer UT
- LAHSC Service Opportunities
- Internship: 150 hours total
