Constitutional Theory
One of the distinctive strengths of public law at the University of Texas at Austin has been the breadth and depth of work in constitutional theory. At UT, the broad ambit of constitutional theory includes the philosophical underpinning of constitutional interpretation and jurisprudence as developed in law schools, and an architectonic perspective—theories of design and practice—as developed in leading programs in political science.
Topics of research at UT have ranged from innovations in interpretative method to theories of constitutional identity, maintenance, revolution, and failure, as reflected particularly in the wide ranging works of Gary Jacobsohn and Jeffrey Tulis.
