Fellowships

The Center's Fellowships in Law and Democracy provide opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students working on issues related to law and democracy to engage more closely with the Center's research and faculty.

Fellows are engaged in the Center's community and events on campus, with invitations to participate in the Working Group on Law and Democracy, the Emerging Scholars Conference in Public Law, and collaborative research opportunities with faculty and other students. This is an opportunity for students to receive recognition for their work in the area and build relationships with faculty and students working in the field.

Students can apply for a semester- or year-long fellowship to conduct research in one of the Center's current research areas, conduct research with a member of the Center's faculty, or lead one of the Center's event series. Applicants should identify the Center or faculty research areas where they would like to conduct research.

Graduate fellowships are $1,000 per semester, and undergraduate fellowships are $500 per semester. Fellows will develop their specific activities and scope of work with their faculty mentor as part of the application process.

Applications are typically open before the start of each semester and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students interested to apply for a Fellowship in Law and Democracy should reach out to the Center directors for more information.
