Visiting Scholars
The Center hosts faculty and graduate students from universities around the world as visiting scholars. The goal is to promote greater collaboration between scholars in the United States and other countries and to strengthen ties between UT Austin and universities around the world.
While in residence at the Center, visiting scholars focus on areas of public law and democracy where the Center has expertise that are relevant to the scholars' research. These can include comparative constitutionalism, constitutional design, constitutional law, constitutional philosophy, democratic institutions and politics, law and society, and research methods. The Center also regularly convenes faculty and students for interdisciplinary events that are a resource for visiting scholars to engage with other scholars on campus, share their research, and get feedback on their work.
The Center's visiting scholar positions are unpaid. Visiting scholars typically receive funding from their home university or from academic fellowships like the Fulbright programs to support their work.
Interested scholars should email their project proposal and cv to the Center directors to see if the project topic and timing align with openings at the Center. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please ensure they are submitted to the Center at a least a month before they would be due to an external funding agency.
