Giving to Linguistics

We hope that you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Department of Linguistics. Your donations will be used to help the department expand its educational and scholarly mission.

Online Giving:

At the UT Online Giving secure website you may use American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa to make an electronic one-time gift or divide your annual gift into two, four or twelve monthly payments.

  • "Department of Linguistics” is pre-filled.
  • Enter the gift amount.
  • If the gift is in honor of someone, there will be a section after "Billing Address" at the bottom of the form where you will answer the question, “Is this gift in honor or memory of someone?” by clicking the “In Honor' or "In Memory" button. A box will appear for you to write in the name of the honoree. You can enter additional information about your gift below that.
  • If you would like your contribution to go towards the Carlota S. Smith Memorial Fellowship, a fellowship that supports UT Linguistics graduate student research, please enter the phrase, “For the Carlota S. Smith Memorial Fellowship, Department of Linguistics” in the "Honoree Name or Organization" box that appears once the "In Honor" box is checked, at the bottom of the page
  • If you would like your contribution to go towards the Nora C. England Memorial Endowment, please click the link here. 
  • If you wish to make part of your donation to the Department of Linguistics generally, and in specific parts, please use this field to indicate how you wish your donation to be distributed. For example, "please designate $10 for the Carlota Smith Fellowship and $10 for the Department of Linguistics.

Your check should be payable to The University of Texas at Austin with Department of Linguistics in the "memo" section of the check. If you would like to contribute to the Carlota S. Smith Memorial Fellowship, a fellowship that supports UT Linguistics graduate student research, please enter the phrase, “For the Carlota S. Smith Memorial Fellowship, Department of Linguistics” in the “Special Instructions” section near the top of the form.
