Where in the World Are Linguistics Grads Going?

Our graduates are going far and wide next year, some to work and some back to school. We really like the fact that Lilliana Terry will be a software engineer at Facebook in Seattle. Angelina Campbell is figuring out which data analytics job she’ll accept. Nikki Grant’s job search successfully led her to Indeed, where many former Linguistics students now work.

Teaching English will take our students around the world. Luis De La Cruz will Teach for America in the Rio Grande Valley. Nicole Parsons heads to Tel Aviv to teach English for a year before coming back to school for a master’s in speech-language pathology. Laura Nagy flies to Lille to join the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF); she too will then come home to seek a master’s in speech-language pathology. Stephanie Davidson-Mendez will be undertaking a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant position in Malaysia. Graciela Trimble-Quiz is waiting to hear about her application to Japan’s JET program.

Two of our grads can’t wait to start master’s programs in Speech-Language Pathology in Fall 2019: Nicole Prinz (TCU) and Robert DeMuoy (LSU). Elizabeth Doyle heads north to Indiana University in Bloomington for a M.S. program in Higher Education and Student Affairs, where she’ll be a graduate assistant to the vice provost for undergrad education. Jeune Kim will enter the LBJ School of Public Affairs, here at UT, for their Global Policy Studies Program. Meredith Riggs will join Carnegie-Mellon University’s master’s program in Language Technologies. Jody Allen will enter the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Texas State in San Marcos. Ana Mitchell Cordova will go to law school at Texas Tech. Kaylee Kocurek will be applying for admission to law school in 2020, but will take the year to work and relax. Kelly Hall will be working at an education non-profit in Portland called College Possible.

Ph.D. programs also beckon. Morgan Clark joins Brown’s doctoral program in Anthroplogy, where she will follow the archeology track. Lauren Wagner will enter the Ph.D. program in Neuroscience at UCLA. Emily Saunders joins the San Diego State/University of California San Diego joint doctoral program in Language and Communicative Disorders. Natalie Miller will join the doctoral program in Musicology at Princeton, where she’ll be studying music cognition.

Congratulations to everyone! And we hope that everyone will keep in touch!
