Author Talk: "Luisa Valenzuela—La verdad de la ficción"

Mon, September 16, 2019 | RLP 1.302E (Patton Liberal Arts Building)

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Celebrated Argentine fiction author and essayist Luisa Valenzuela will discuss her work in this Spanish-language talk. Valenzuela made her name with novels and short stories that call into question hierarchical social structures, whether those of the Church, of dictatorships, or of the patriarchy. In her essays, she examines such themes as the distinctive features of women's creative expression and the relations between literature and authoritarianism. Valenzuela is also a teacher of creative writing and literature. She was a writer in residence at the Center for Inter American Relations and taught for many years at Columbia University.

In Spanish without translation. Free and open to the public. For more information, contact Naomi Lindstrom.
