SemitiLex

The Semitic family of languages includes the languages of ancient imperial polities like Assyria and Babylonia, situated in one of the lauded cradles of civilization.  The family also contains the languages of the Quran and Torah, fundamental texts of two of the world’s major religions.  But it also encompasses a range of languages spreading throughout the Middle East and into Africa that attest to a wide diversity of cultural traditions.  The SemitiLex project intends to provide a computational infrastructure for the detailed and wide-ranging study of the historical evolution of the lexica of these languages.
