Secondary Analysis of Childhood Obesity Data

The Latino Research Institute seeks proposals from early career researchers to conduct secondary data analyses on Institute data sets to investigate new research questions and publish results in an open access journal.

 Awardees receive:

  • $1,000 stipend (paid in two $500 installments)
  • Up to $3,000 for publication fees in an open access journal
  • Two hours of analytics consultation with the LRI Data Services Group
  • Up to three hours of editorial support

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate commitment to research issues affecting Latino Populations in the United States
  • Have at least three articles published as first or corresponding author
  • Have a current appointment as tenure-track assistant professor or non-tenure-track assistant professor (years 2-4 of academic appointment)
  • Be affiliated in one of the following Hispanic Serving Institutions at the University of Texas System:
    • UT Arlington
    • UT Austin
    • UT El Paso
    • UT Permian Basin
    • UT Rio Grande Valley
    • UT San Antonio
    • UT Health Science Center in San Antonio

2024 Cohort Details:

For the 2024 cohort, the LRI seeks proposals from early career researchers to conduct secondary data
analyses using the Institute’s data sets on their NIH-funded study “Health4Kids (H4K) Intervention Trial for
Hispanic Families” (NCT02343367)
.
