Paola Mendoza

Paola is a fourth year Neuroscience major with a minor in Mexican-American and Latina/o Studies. She is a first-generation student from Fort Worth. Her interests focus on the intersection between Neuroscience and Public Health in relation to the Latine community. After graduating, she plans on attending graduate school to earn a masters in Public Health.

Giselle Yoshimoto

Giselle is a third year Moody Honors student pursuing a B.S. in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and minor in Educational Psychology. She has volunteered in the Multilingual Aphasia Dementia Research Lab since January 2022. She is passionate about research to better serve multilingual and multicultural communities by developing culturally responsive and just practices.

Liliana Hernandez

Liliana is a fourth year Public Health student with a BDP Certificate in Human Rights and Social Justice. She is interested in creating interventions that address the social determinants of health in populations that face systemic inequalities. She plans on receiving her Master’s of Public Health in Health Promotion/Health Education and working in the field of nutrition research.

Andria Banda

Andria is a first-generation Latina studying Sociology and Social and Behavioral Science. She has previously contributed to research conducted by the UT Department of Psychology and the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory. Within the near future, Andria hopes to attend graduate school with the goal of becoming a licensed psychologist.

Liliana Beltran

Liliana is a third year Human Development and Family Sciences major with a minor in Communications Studies. She is a first-generation student from Houston. Her academic interests include how bilingualism and language acquisition affect brain development. After graduation, she plans to attend Physician Assistant school.

Alaiza Mata

Alaiza is a second year double major in Psychology and Mexican American and Latino Studies with a minor in Educational Psychology. She is a first-generation student from McAllen. Her research interests include language development in children and its effect on cognition, and the behavioral and cognitive effects of language brokering.

Jocelyn Euceda

Jocelyn Euceda is a 4th year student pursuing a degree in nursing and a minor in business. She has a strong interest in public health with a focus on the Latino community. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a masters in public health . Her mission is to improve her community and through direct patient care and research.

Alexis Martinez

Alexis Martinez was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She is a 3rd year Psychology major with a minor in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies and a certificate in Forensic Science. Alexis is passionate about destigmatizing thoughts about mental health in the Latinx community. Her goal is to help people and impact her community.

Ydaly Gutierrez

Ydaly Gutierrez is a first generation student from El Paso, Texas. She is majoring in Social Work with a minor in Educational Psychology. She aims to view her clients through an intersectional lens and educate others to reduce stigma. After graduation, she plans to pursue a law degree to become an immigration attorney.

Claire Harper

Claire Harper is a 4th year Sociology and Neuroscience double major from Austin, Texas. Her research interests include the minority stress model, the mental health of minoritized groups, and intersectionality. After graduation, Claire intends to pursue a PhD in Sociology.

Alejandra Arroyo

Alejandra Arroyo is majoring in Health and Society with a focus on Cultural Aspects of Health and a certificate in Forensic Science. She is originally from from Houston, Texas. She is interested in Latino public health and how practices and beliefs affect health outcomes. After graduation, she will earn her MA through a Pathologists Assistant training program.
