Student Training Programs

The Latino Research Institute offers "hands-on" experiences with research

The goals of LRI student training program are to strengthen research and writing skills; develop and hone professional development skills for successfully applying to a graduate/doctoral program; and provide mentorship opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate research skills, which will build the social capital necessary to maintain their progression into post-graduate education.

Why would a student want to be involved in research?

Latinx Access Program Applications Now Open

This year-long research education program is designed to prepare UT undergraduates for graduate programs in the health sciences, education, social work, or public health. Students collaborate with a UT faculty mentor to develop a research project aligned with their interests.

Our student research assistants participate in data collection and analysis, policy brief drafting, recruitment, and on-site coordination and they engage in critical discussions about the improving well-being of Latinos in the U.S.
