LRI Affiliates Seed Grant

The Latino Research Institute will provide modest funding for its affiliates at the University of Texas at Austin.  We are seeking one-year proposals to advance collaborative, interdisciplinary research. Selected participants will receive a $5,000 award to be spent on the preparation of a major grant or a small pilot research project (seed funds).

We are interested in research proposals that address pressing challenges affecting systematically underserved populations in Central Texas, especially in the following areas:

1) Reentry barriers and reintegration challenges among individuals involved in the Texas criminal justice system

2) Civic engagement, political participation, and voting behavior

3) Climate change impacts and hazard preparedness among highly vulnerable communities

4) Educational aspirations, access to resources and role models, and pathways to achieving higher education goals

5) Health and mental health literacy among users of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).

Deadline for submissions is August 30th, 2026.

For additional information about application requirements, please send a message to LRI@austin.utexas.edu with the heading “Small Grant Award 2026”.
