Semillas
Do you love Latino Studies? Are you constantly trying to convince your friends to become MALS majors? Do you want to feel more connected to the Latinx community on/off campus?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then allow us to introduce 🥁🥁🥁 Semillas, the official Latino Studies Student Ambassador Program!
Semillas are dedicated to the mission of cultivating community and raising the profile of Latino Studies on and off-campus.
Program Overview
- Semillas are Event Organizers
- Semillas help Latino Studies staff inform, plan, and execute thoughtful events that enrich student life.
- Semillas develop their networking and communication skills by participating in special Latino Studies events with alumni, donors, and community members.
- Semillas are Representatives
- Semillas serve as representatives for the department in outreach and prospective student events such as new student orientation and org fairs.
- Semillas are Volunteers
- Semillas are regularly connected to volunteer opportunities in the community and participate in a collective day of action with Latino Studies faculty, staff, alumni, and donors.
- Semillas are Influencers
- Semillas contribute to content creation for the Latino Studies website, newsletter, and social media!

Requirements
- Must have taken MALS courses and/or be a MALS major/minor
- Attend regularly scheduled biweekly meetings
- Participate in days of action/service
- Support our student pantry, La Tiendita
