Conference & Research Grants
The NAIS Program offers graduate students enrolled in the NAIS Graduate Portfolio program the ability to apply for and receive grants to support research and conference participation related to Indigenous issues.
Portfolio students are invited to contact NAIS if a conference or research opportunity arises, including after our grant application window closes. We may be able to partially fund late requests.

The Program in Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 NAIS Conference & Research Grant application for graduate students enrolled in the NAIS Graduate Portfolio program. Grant requests can be made for up to $1,000 to fund conference or research travel related to Indigenous issues.
Eligibility
All active NAIS graduate portfolio students are encouraged to apply. Eligible funding requests include:
- Upcoming conference travel occurring in Spring 2025 or Summer 2025.
- Retroactive conference travel from Fall 2024 (beginning August 26th, 2024).
- Upcoming research for Summer 2025.

Review and post-award process
Applications are reviewed and ranked by a committee of NAIS Advisory Council Members. Notifications of awards for upcoming travel will be made in early April 2025. Decisions on retroactive awards will be made soon after receipt of the application.
