Nurse Corps

Introduction

The Navy Nurse Corps is a challenging field. Whether at sea, on shore, or in the field, the dedicated Navy Nurses must provide medical support to Sailors, Marines, and their families around the globe. The skills and education you receive while earning a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Texas will enhance your ability to overcome any obstacle in these challenging environments. The Universtiy of Texas Naval ROTC program will provide leadership opportunities so that you are prepared for the professional and personal accountability that will be expected of you when you commission as a Navy Nurse.

Requirements

NROTC Nurse-Option Midshipmen must be an undergraduate in the College of Nursing. These Nurse-Option Midshipmen must earn a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) while completing the required Naval Science coursework of Nurse-Option Midshipmen. NROTC Nurses are Midshipmen, and as Midshipmen, they must meet the academic, physical, and moral requirements that are demanded of all future officers.

Pipeline

Following graduation and commissioning, Navy Nurses will take their National Council Licensure Exam-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) exam. After passing this exam, these Nurses will transfer to their first duty station to begin their exciting career as a Navy Nurse.
