About

The University of Texas at Austin Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC), in partnership with the McCombs Center for Leadership and Ethics, is proud to present the inaugural convening of the Mulva Leadership Symposium in Austin, Texas on 12 April 2024.

The Mulva Leadership Symposium (MLS), in its inaugural year, will be a 150-person event targeting leaders at The University of Texas. The conference is named in honor of James Mulva and the Mulva Family Foundation, one of the most significant supporters of military and business leadership education at the University of Texas. Our mission is to create a community of cross-functional, interdisciplinary leaders through intercultural exchanges and education around shared leadership topics. One of the most urgent and least-discussed threats to national security and domestic peace in the United States today is the divide between our citizens. Collective distrust in government, politics, and big business is high; we hope that by providing a venue for emerging leaders across our campus to learn together, we can begin to rebuild trust and understanding, starting within the current undergraduate student body at the University of Texas at Austin.

This year’s conference will be centered around leading and managing through crisis; focusing on preparing for crisis, leading through crisis, and recovery. Our intent is to grow this conference in future years across the entire university campus and eventually beyond UT and Texas to share our message with the nation.
