Program Requirements

The goal of this program is to bring students to a superior level of language proficiency in Portuguese so they may function professionally, in Portuguese. The following list are requirements that must be adhered to in order to maintain your eligibility as a Flagship Scholar:

• Make consistent progress toward reaching Superior proficiency in Portuguese
• Earn a “B” or better in all Portuguese courses
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0*
• Enroll in at least one Portuguese course each fall and spring semester
• Participate in weekly meetings with an assigned PFP language coach, tutor or partner
• Complete all required proficiency tests and interviews
• Enroll in the UT faculty-led Portuguese program in Brazil in the summer (optional, but highly recommended)
• Complete the Portuguese Overseas Flagship Capstone Experience

* Please note, academic records of all students will be reviewed at the end of each semester. Failure to meet minimum GPA requirements upon completion of the semester may result in probation and ineligibility to receive summer or overseas funding.
