Director's & Parents' Circles

The Plan II Honors Program’s long history of academic excellence, fostered by award-winning faculty and staff, continues to attract some of the most accomplished and ambitious students in the state of Texas and the nation. Today, more than ever, the interdisciplinary education that Plan II embraces takes place both in and beyond the classroom, with experiences such as study abroad, research, and internships. These opportunities broaden and deepen our students’ understanding of the world, and play a very meaningful role in helping them achieve their academic and career goals. Plan II strives to provide a combination of academic and practical, hands-on experiences in order to prepare our students for success in a complex global society.

Providing an exceptional 21st-century education that integrates off-campus research, engagement, and internships into a rigorous Arts & Sciences curriculum is crucial to our mission as one of the finest honors programs in the nation. We face a mounting challenge in funding these important encounters beyond the Forty Acres, as opportunities expand and student demand continues to grow.

Our Travel Grant and Thesis Grant programs aim to support every Plan II student who needs financial assistance in the following areas:

  • Cost of travel to conduct thesis research at an archive
  • Cost of travel to attend or present at an academic conference
  • Funding for laboratory or production materials for a senior thesis project
  • Study abroad tuition and program costs
  • Travel to another city where a student will undertake a summer internship
  • Civic engagement internships during the academic year

The vast majority of the funding Plan II has for these grants comes from the generosity of our alumni, parents, and friends in the form of annual gifts. As costs and the number of student applications rise each year, we need your help to keep these transformative experiences a reality for our students. Our alumni, parents, and friends have the opportunity to participate more directly in supporting our students and their engagement with the world through the Plan II Director’s Circle and Plan II Parents' Circle.

Director’s Circle members are alumni, families, and friends of the program who make a tax-deductible annual gift of $2,500 or more to the Plan II program. These gifts fund academic travel, internships, undergraduate research, and support for study abroad. Click here to make a gift and join the Plan II Director's Circle.

Contributing members will receive name recognition on the Plan II website, a Director’s Circle Plan II logo removable sticker, and thank you letters at the end of the year from some of the students whose educational goals you helped support.

Parents' Circle members are those who have made a tax-deductible annual gift of $1,500 or more to the Plan II program. These gifts fund academic travel, internships, undergraduate research, and support for study abroad. Click here to make a gift and join the Plan II Parents' Circle.

Contributing members will receive name recognition on the Plan II website, a Parents' Circle Plan II logo removable sticker, and thank you letters at the end of the year from some of the students whose educational goals you helped support.

Should you be interested in creating a permanent, named endowment to support these critical academic activities, we would be delighted to talk with you about how to do so. Contact us at planiialumni@austin.utexas.edu.
