Dell Medical School Communications Internship

Dell Medical School, in partnership with the Plan II Honors Program, offers internships for Plan II Honors students interested in gaining experience at the intersection of health and health care, academic medicine, and communications.

Internship Overview

The Dell Med Communications Intern will provide support to existing communications projects, and will be encouraged to propose and execute their own initiatives as appropriate. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, dependable, responsible, and willing to work both cooperatively and independently. Dell Med is a growing, rapidly-evolving and fast-paced organization, so the communications team seeks individuals that are comfortable with / energized by this environment.

Job Description: Dell Med Communications Interns will produce content and/or graphic design products for websites, print, and/or social media. Learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Visual and digital storytelling
  • Typography and layout
  • Design strategy
  • Creative problem solving
  • Photography and video production
  • Error-free written communication
  • Public relations
  • Strong digital analytic skills
  • Self-leadership
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Communications research

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be capable of producing content and/or design products that align with Dell Med storytelling and brand standards. A strong eye for visual design and/or sophisticated writing skills are required, along with a professional demeanor, excellent organizational skills and high level of confidence. Experience in any or all of the following areas are preferred:

  • Advertising, marketing and/or journalism
  • Graphic design (layout, typography, etc.)
  • Web, print, and social media content management and/or design
  • Photography and/or videography (shooting, editing, producing)
  • Managing platforms for a large organization
  • Content management systems, particularly Craft, Drupal and/or WordPress
  • Web editing and/or HTML
  • Spanish language
