Travis Audubon is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as an Advocacy Intern. You’ll be a part of our efforts to engage the Austin community in conservation advocacy. The internship is designed for you to gain hands-on experience learning about and inciting change in issues that affect wild birds. You can learn more about our advocacy priorities here.
INTERNSHIP DUTIES:
- Act as liaison between staff and Advocacy Committee
- Attend Advocacy Committee meetings
- Assist Advocacy Committee with action items
- Assist with writing and editing advocacy blog posts and newsletter segments
- Assist with Lights Out programming and communications
- Work with Communications staff to create social media campaign
- Develop and disseminate resources for residents, building owners, property management
- Manage yard sign distribution
- Develop toolkit for members who wish to take action in their community
- Determine common issues and potential ways to act
- Write templates
- Compile contact lists
- Compile list of educational resources
REQUIREMENTS:
The right candidate will:
- Be passionate about wildlife and conservation issues
- Be comfortable working with a wide range of personalities
- Have stellar oral and written communication skills
- Possess strong multi-tasking abilities
- Be proficient with Google Workspace Tools
INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
- 5-7 hours per week, hybrid work schedule
- Start and end dates of the internship are flexible
- Specific days and hours are flexible
