Hi y’all! My name is Isabella Ventura, and I’m a sophomore at UT pursuing a dual degree in Plan II Honors and Finance. I was born and raised in Houston, TX, though my family is from Ecuador and El Salvador—totally recommend visiting if you have the chance!
Growing up, I was never a huge fan of Houston (except for the food), and I always longed to go out of state for college with the hopes of exploring a new environment. Yet the moment I discovered the Plan II program, I realized I was destined for Austin.
As a student in both McCombs and COLA, I was drawn to this academic path because it combines business-oriented problem-solving and analysis with a broad liberal arts education that develops transferable skills across various careers. Coming into college with a wide range of interests, I have enjoyed getting to explore intersections among different fields, people, and ideas. From studying gender-focused anthropology to uncovering the mathematics of the fourth dimension, I have gained invaluable skills in structured thinking, effective communication, and an ability to differentiate myself through unique problem-solving. Furthermore, the program has broadened my perspective by connecting me with peers from diverse backgrounds and majors, exposing me to insights I had never considered before. These experiences have fueled my passion for exploring how business intertwines with endless other disciplines, and I’m excited to leverage my creative and analytical background wherever I go!
On campus, I’m involved in Texas Consulting, Longhorn Racing, and Texas Spirits. I also work as a receptionist for the Plan II office and serve as the manager of media, alumni relations, and traditions for the Plan II Students’ Association. This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to do a UT May-term program and study Nanotechnology and Entrepreneurship in Tokyo—and I’m honestly still not over it. Outside of school, you can find me creative writing, playing pick-up soccer, backpacking in state parks, or hitting up cool restaurants with my friends.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! Coming into college, I truly had no idea what I wanted to do, and Plan II has been an instrumental part of my intellectual exploration as well as overall development. I can’t recommend it enough!
