Vivek Beeram
Plan II, Neuroscience Honors
Class of 2026

Hi! My name is Vivek Beeram. I’m a senior majoring in Plan II and Neuroscience Honors. I’m from San Antonio but have been proud to call Austin and Plan II my home for the last few years. At UT, I’ve been involved with academic research, student leadership, and exciting projects that wouldn’t have happened without the help of Plan II.

Diversity is what makes Plan II amazing – classes, professors, students, backgrounds, ideas, and more. Every Plan II student is working on something interesting in the course of their academic career. These projects culminate in the end-of-semester presentations; it’s always exciting to see what people are working on and to talk about anything from the socioeconomic consequences of digital nomads to quantum fault tolerance.

I’ve personally how Plan II has enabled me to pursue my interest in philosophy through classes and the structure of the thesis course. One of my favorite classes in undergrad was my Plan II UGS ‘Relativism.’ We spent a semester discussing morality, Nietzsche, and cultural, and we analyzed culture from here to Papua New Guinea.

Plan II has supported my academic interests and has enabled me to study abroad. I spent this past summer working on technology and regional development in Spain, and I’ve also received funding to work on my research projects.

This program supports me in the pursuit of my interests and surrounds me with like-minded, enthusiastic people who are all changing the world. If you see yourself in this program, don’t hesitate to reach out and apply!
