PRC FRAs Lauren Schudde and Huriya Jabbar have been awarded a new grant of $130,000 from the Greater Texas Foundation to study how community college students receive and use information about course credit transfer policies.

In addition to examining how community college students interpret and use these policies as they work through the college transfer application process, this study will examine the roles that state and institutional policies play in students’ ability to transfer and how successful they are with identifying hurdles throughout the process.

Called “’Tell Me What I Need to Do’: How Texas Community College Students Experience and Interpret State Transfer Policies,” the project builds on previous work conducted separately by Schudde and Jabbar that focused on the structural barriers community college students face as they navigate transferring into four-year universities.
