Summer Proposal Writing Workshops

Two Summer 2024 Proposal-Writing Opportunities

UT Austin-based and External Faculty Affiliates of the Population Research Center (PRC) or the Texas Center on Aging and Population Sciences (CAPS) are invited to participate in two proposal-writing workshops to be held this coming summer. Faculty should select the workshop that aligns best with their research topic and target funding agency. Both workshops are designed to teach the craft of grant preparation, including conceptualizing the project, forming a research team, writing the scientific components, managing the forms, budgeting, and understanding the review process. After participating in the workshops, participants are expected to have a draft proposal. Applicants must commit to submitting their proposal to NIH in fall 2024 or early spring 2025.

The workshops will involve 4 or 5 group meetings but will also require intensive proposal writing between meetings. Participants must commit to dedicating significant time this summer to the workshops and preparing their proposals. They must also commit to submitting their final proposals to a funding agency through the PRC or CAPS.

Details about each opportunity can be found in the table below.
