Biography
Zenzi M. Griffin is a Professor of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. She earned a BA in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1993 and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998 with a minor in Linguistics. She spent three years as an assistant professor of Psychology at Stanford University before moving to Georgia Tech in the summer of 2001, where she was promoted to associate professor in 2005.
Dr. Griffin studies the psychological processes that result in speech. She has been particularly concerned with how people select and order words and phrases and the way that they manage (and mismanage) the timing of word retrieval and the articulation of speech. Current projects also address the learning and retrieval of personal names.
Dr. Griffin will be on academic leave 2018-2019, spending the spring as a Distinguished Weinberg Fellow at Northwestern University, hosted by the Linguistics Department along with the Department of Psychology and the Cognitive Science Program. During this time she will not be taking on new graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, or undergraduate research assistants.
