Assistant Professor Annie Hill Accepts Position with Rhetoric & Writing
Assistant Professor Annie Hill

We are excited to announce that Professor Annie Hill will join our faculty in Fall 2018! Annie is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota. She was a visiting scholar at Cambridge’s Institute of Criminology in 2008, and in 2011 she got her Ph.D. in rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley, where she was also an Empirical Legal Studies Fellow in the Center for the Study of Law and Society. She’s on a Ford Post-doctoral Fellowship this year.

Annie works at intersections of rhetoric, law, and science and is wrapping up a book manuscript entitled Modern-Day Slavery: Trafficking, Migration, and Law, which charts the rise of the British anti-trafficking agenda. At the invitation of the National Communication Association’s Publication Board, she is also completing a book manuscript based on her much-cited article “SlutWalk as Perifeminist Response to Rape Logic: The Politics of Reclaiming a Name,” originally published in Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies. The book version will be called Rhetoric, Rape Logic, and Resistance.
