Dr. Mark Longaker Selected for Panel at SXSW Edu

Dr. Mark Longaker will be presenting and participating on a panel titled "29,407 Reasons to Build a Community of Practice" as part of the annual SXSW Edu conference. Dr. Longaker has been an integral part of building UT's OnRamps program, in particular, his contributions to making RHE 306 accessible to high school students across the state of Texas.

Dual credit programs, such as what OnRamps offers, prepare students in college readiness while simultaneously allowing students to earn transferable college credits. OnRamps strives to provide high-quality education to all high school students in Texas regardless of socioeconomic circumstances in pursuit of creating a more equal educational landscape.

A synopsis of the talk has been provided by SXSW Edu below:

Students need courage and persistence to access college and achieve economic and social prosperity. They need teachers to transform the quality of instruction. They need high schools to push the boundaries of traditional offerings and partnerships. OnRamps brings this all together through a statewide community of practice that has served 29,407 students, up from 166 in 2011. Learn the means, method, and movement of this community to drive widespread change and increase college success.

Dr. Longaker and his colleagues can be seen at SXSW Edu on March 10, 2020.
