Caribbeanist Labs on Religion (CLR)

According to the OED, “labs of the tongue” are tellers of tales. In this spirit, CLR is an experimental lab of the tongue on the Caribbean and religion, broadly construed. As a harbinger of world history, how can Caribbean cosmopolitics conjure what the future holds, and how might we find the tongues to tell these tales? We will meet twice each semester, once in a workshop setting and once with an invited guest. For our purposes, this lab’s sessions encompass not only the Antilles but also the places in the US, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Canada that comprise the Greater Caribbean, its diasporas, and its homelands. While remaining rooted in specific cases, our themes are wide-ranging, bridging disciplines and locales.
