Warfield Affiliate Program

Did you know that the Warfield Center for African and African American Studies is the programming hub of UT’s Department of African & African American Studies? Would you like to learn more about the Center and meet other people interested in the study of Africa and its diaspora? If so, the Warfield Student Affiliate Program is for you. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, this initiative aims to increase engagement with the Center’s research and programming endeavors. Students may choose one of the following tracks:

Study

  • Take:
    • 2 African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) courses
      OR
    • 2 courses cross-listed with AADS

 

Research

  • Apply for and receive one of the following:
    • Warfield Graduate Student Travel Grant
    • Warfield Undergraduate Research Grant
    • Warfield Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarship

 

Attendance & Engagement

(choose 2 of 3)

  • Attend 1 Warfield Center event or 1 event sponsored by African and African Diaspora Studies, the Art Galleries at Black Studies (AGBS), or the Institute for Research and Policy (IRP)
    AND
  • Volunteer at 1 Warfield Center event
    OR
  • Present creative work or research at Warfield Student Showcase

 

Employment

  • Hold a student-worker position in AADS, including: African and African Diaspora Studies, the Art Galleries at Black Studies (AGBS), the Institute for Research and Policy (IRP), or the Warfield Center

  • Participation in AADS-Warfield Graduation (contingent on completion of the program)
