Scholarships for New and Current Jewish Studies Majors

Jewish Studies majors are eligible for three types of scholarships:

1) David M. Rosenberg Scholarship for First-Year Jewish Studies Majors

Purpose: To support first-year Jewish Studies majors.
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov 16, 2018
Eligibility: Any first-year student who has formally declared Jewish Studies as a major. The recipient must plan to be enrolled full-time at UT as a Jewish Studies major in the semester following the application deadline.

2) Henry Weiss Scholarship for Jewish Studies Majors

Purpose: To support Jewish Studies majors.
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov 16, 2018
Eligibility: Any student who has formally declared Jewish Studies as a major, including previous scholarship recipients.  The recipient must plan to be enrolled full-time at UT as a Jewish Studies major in the semester following the application deadline.

3) Todd and Dawn Aaron Endowed Presidential Scholarship                            

Purpose: To support excellence among Jewish Studies Majors.
Amount: $2,500 over two semesters
Deadline: April 10, 2019
Eligibility: Current Jewish Studies Major.  The recipient will be known as the “Aaron Scholar” for the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded. The recipient must plan to be enrolled at UT for the full academic year (two semesters) following the application deadline.

Please Note: The application for the Aaron Endowed Scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from a Jewish Studies faculty member.

How to Apply:

All scholarship applications include the following items:

  1. Completed Application Form (download the form in Word or as a PDF).
  2. A Statement of Purpose describing your current interest in Jewish Studies and your future plans (up to 500 words).
  3. A Resume (1 page)

To complete your application, submit either digital or paper copies of all items:

Paper copies of applications should be submitted by mail to:

Please mark the envelope: attn. Scholarship Application. 

Mailed applications should be postmarked no later than Nov 16, 2018 (or Apr 10, 2019 for the EPS).
