Adornment and History: Ancient Georgia – Crossroads of Europe and Asia

Exhibition dates: February 19-21, 2005

Maka Dvalishvili, President of the Georgian Arts and Culture Center in Tbilisi, opened the exhibition with a warm welcome.

The exhibit included multimedia presentations, photographs and posters, and pedestal displays of modern replicas of ancient Georgian gold jewelry. The originals, which were discovered on archaeological sites in Georgia , date from the 25th century BC to the 5th century AD, and are currently housed in the Georgian State Museum in Tbilisi.

Undergraduate models, students in the UT Russian Department, wore dresses designed by a young Georgian designer to highlight the beautiful gold jewelry.
