Program Information

Texas Global is offering a three week, three-credit lecture/discussion program in Warsaw, Poland from the end of May to mid-June.

In this program, students will be introduced to a general overview of regional politics, security issues, history and language. There will be opportunities to work closely with local experts and delve in-depth into issues of security and/or democratization in Central/Eastern Europe. 

Course Credit

Students will enroll in the Maymester course for the Spring semester (during the registration period in the Fall semester, through January), which means the course will be indicated in the Spring tuition bill for students. Because of flat-rate tuition, undergraduates will not pay any additional tuition costs for the course. The course credit will transfer in as indicated below. 

NOTE: This Maymester counts towards the Certificate in Security Studies & for IRG majors, it can be used for the REE or EUS area studies track as well as the Security track!

 - Application priority deadline: Nov 15 (If seats available, deadline may be extended)
 - Notification of acceptance to program: Mid-December
 - Non-refundable $75 SAO application fee: Dec 15*
    * to be eligible for COLA: Social Justice in Poland Scholarship
 - Program fee balance due: March
 - Health Clearance Forms and all SAO paperwork due: April
 - Arrival in Warsaw: May 29, 2021
 - Last day of program: June 19, 2021

Program Costs

NOTE: There is funding available for this program, with scholarships of $1,000+ available to students, especially those who demonstrate financial need. If the program fee is a deciding factor for you, please reach out to us, as our goal is to create an affordable and worthy study abroad experience for as many students as we can.

Total program fee: Covers all in-country housing (including breakfast), cost of in-country courses and materials, all program excursions and related transportation including overnight stays, as well as group meals. Other applicable costs for participating in the program are outlined below.

Did you know? The cost of living in Warsaw is incredibly affordable! 

Other costs include:

Study Abroad Portal application fee: $75 (due Dec 15 to be eligible for COLA: Social Justice in Poland Scholarship)
Overseas insurance: $19/week (due May 1)
Tuition: NONE (included in your spring semester tuition bill, which is flat rate!)
Travel: ??? flight costs
Passport fees: approximately $120 (if needed)
Miscellaneous/food: approximately $700-1,000 (cost of living in Warsaw is much cheaper than in Austin)

IEFS Scholarship — Every applicant should apply!!!

Competition for study or research overseas. Awards are based both on merit and need.

COLA: Social Justice in Poland Scholarship — All Maymester participants qualify!

Scholarships of $1,000-2,500 in Global Assist (opens Nov 7)
Deadline: December 15
Funded by the Rapoport International Endowment in the College of Liberal Arts and students receiving the scholarship will be required to write a thank you letter to the endowment representative.
Distributions are to support need-based undergraduate scholarships, with emphasis on supporting participation in study and research abroad opportunities. As such, applicants will be asked to explain circumstances warranting financial need.

UT Polish Studies Endowment Scholarship — All Maymester participants qualify!

Financial Aid

All federal, state, and UT institutional aid can be used for Maymester Study Abroad Programs. Spring financial aid packages can be recalculated based on the additional costs of the program. See more information on the UT International Office's website.
