Congratulations to Dr. Mark Atwood Lawrence

Congratulations to CREEES’ affiliate  Dr. Mark Atwood Lawrence, Associate Professor (History) for being awarded the Silver Spurs Centennial Teaching Fellowship this summer, a student-nominated distinction that recognizes excellence in teaching.

Though known for their care and handling of BEVO, UT’s beloved longhorn mascot, the Silver Spurs Alumni Association make no less effort in the care of students, faculty, and community to whom they provide scholarships, fellowships, and outreach programs.

A man of many hats himself, Dr. Atwood not only spreads his expertise in the History Department, but also as Director of Graduate Studies at the Clements Center for National Security, and a Distinguished Fellow at the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law. Most recently, he has joined the CREEES Graduate Studies Committee to supervise the thesis of Audrius Rickus, CREEES MA candidate. CREEES students have enjoyed Dr. Lawrence’s courses on US Foreign Relations (HIS 333L) and Research in International History (HIS 389).
