7 фильмов из 7 стран. Гендерный монтаж.
(7 Films in 7 Countries: Gender Montage)
OSI's Women's Program, the Institute for Social and Gender Policy, the International Gender Policy Network, and OSI partners from 11 countries launched a series of documentary films exploring the lives and struggles of women in post-Soviet countries. The documentaries comprise the 2006 collection “Gender Montage: Films from Post-Soviet Space,” which aims to capture the immense challenges facing women in the former Soviet Union by focusing on a particular country and a single theme—from polygamy to labor migration, to domestic violence and paternity leave.
Gender Montage paired professional film makers with women’s human rights advocates, who provided guidance and expertise. The project also relied on its international advisors, including leading representatives from the Sundance Documentary Fund, Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, Women Make Movies, Internews-Russia, Swirl Productions, and TV Channel Culture (Russia), who provided support to each national film team and selected the films to be included in the collection.

Борис Годунов
(Boris Godunov)
The film is based on the musical recording of the famous opera by Modest Mussorgsky about the tragic events surrounding the ruling of the Russian tsar Boris in the early 17th century. The recording was actually made two years before the filming with the participation of the Washington Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich) and several opera stars (the part of Marina is sung by Galina Vishnevskaya). Zulawski made the film just as we would be watching the theatrical performance. Then we are going through the sets and, finally, we notice the film crew. The director deliberately filled the picture with a plenty of anachronisms making the implications on the Soviet history and the other dictatorships of the 20th century.
