Research Design Working Group First Meeting

Research Design Working Group First Meeting

Tue, September 24, 2019 | RLP 1.302C

9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

The Research Design Working Group is having their first meeting on Tuesday, September 24th from 9:30 to 11:30am in RLP 1.302C.

The purpose of this group is to provide graduate students with information and resources for improving research design and gaining exposure to new methods. Our faculty advisors are Ken Hou-Lin and Sharmila Rudrappa, whose work truly represent the spectrum of methodological expertise in our department.

We are kicking off the semester with a new series called “Methodological Synergies” in which we explore how similar substantive areas of research can be approached with very different methodological tools and frameworks. At this meeting, we will hear from Sharmila Rudrappa and Diane Coffey about their research on Gender and Health.

In addition to workshopping individual projects, we also plan to bring in speakers to provide instruction on various techniques, theoretical frameworks, project management, and organization of the research process. If you would like to learn more, please join us on Tuesday, or let Kathleen Broussard (rkbroussard@prc.utexas.edu) know that you would like updates.

Coffee and breakfast tacos will be provided!
