The American Sociological Association publication Footnotes has featured a profile of the organization's 2020 President Christine Williams: www.asanet.org/news-events/footnotes/sep-oct-2019/features/introducing-christine-williams-2020-asa-president.

Here is an excerpt from the feature:

"With several books and well over 50 articles and book chapters, [Christine Williams] has been a relentlessly prolific scholar. Her research spans the sociology of gender, sexuality, work, and organizations. Her groundbreaking concept of the glass escalator found that men working in professions numerically dominated by women experienced advancement, mobility, and leadership opportunities, in stark contrast to the many obstacles women face working in male-dominated occupations. This research, published in her game-changing book Still a Man’s World: Men Who Do Women’s Work, forced sociologists to rethink how we understood the token experience."

Christine is Elsie and Stanley E. (Skinny) Adams Senior Centennial Professor of Liberal Arts and chaired the Department of Sociology from 2010-2014. Her department webpage can be found here.

Kudos, Christine!
