Sociology Minor
Students pursuing any other UT major may complete a minor in Sociology.
The minor consists of 15 hours of Sociology coursework as follows:
- SOC 302 Intro to the Study of Society, and
- 12 additional hours of Sociology courses, of which
- 6 hours must be upper-division, and
- 9 hours must be in residence.

***Please note: Students pursuing a Sociology minor will not have access to reserved seats in most Sociology courses.***
The following minors & certificates allow some Sociology courses to be used to meet their requirements:
- Law, Justice, and Society
- Bridging Disciplines Certificates
- Business Specialized Minors:
- Entrepreneurship Minor
- Health Care Reform & Innovation Minor
- Health Communication Minor
- Forensic Science Certificate
- Pre-Health Professions Certificate (Science Major Track)
Sociology majors may pursue these programs, but should be aware that there are limits to how many courses may count for both their major and minor/certificate. Students should contact their advisor to discuss minors and certificates if they have questions.
