The Fourth International Vedic workshop brings together scholars from different countries across the world. It will provide a forum for researchers to share knowledge and create scholarly networks and present opportunities to explore new approaches to the study of the Vedas. Papers and presentations will explore areas such as the inner workings of the Vedic tradition, forms of Vedic practice and the manuscripts on which Vedic scholarship is founded.

The conference will open with a reception on Wednesday evening, May 23, and panels will begin on Thursday morning. The conference will conclude with a banquet and cruise on Lake Austin, Sunday evening, May 27. Therefore, we hope that participants will plan to arrive in Austin before May 24 and to depart after May 27. List of participants (PDF, 75K), and a collection of abstracts (PDF, 600K).

The Vedic Workshop will operate in plenary sessions, so that all participants will have the opportunity to hear all the papers and participate in all the discussion. The sessions will be organized by a committee comprised of scholars from the University of Texas and from other universities in North America, Europe, Japan, and India in consultation with the Workshop's organizers.
